Gun Interest Profile: NRA Contributions to 113th Congress and Senate Judiciary Committee

Next week federal gun legislation is expected to take center stage in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The Hearing on the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 is scheduled for February 27, 2013.

Data: MapLight conducted an analysis of campaign contributions from the political action committee (PAC) of the pro-gun interest group National Rifle Association (NRA).

  • NRA PAC contributed $1,435,687 to members of the 113th Congress from 2009-2012.
  • NRA PAC contributed $31,300 to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee from 2009-2012.
  • Ted Cruz (R-TX) was the Senate Judiciary Committee's top recipient of contributions from the NRA PAC, with a total of $9,900, from 2009-2012.
