June 3, 2011 - Yesterday the California Assembly passed AB 52, which would regulate increases in health insurance rates. The bill passed 45-28, with seven lawmakers not voting. No Republicans voted in favor of passage, and Richard Pan was the lone Democrat who voted against passage.
- Accident & health insurance interest groups gave 58% more to Assemblymembers who voted NO ($9,004) than to Assemblymembers who voted YES ($5,704) on average.
- Among the top ten recipients of campaign contributions connected to Accident & health insurance interest groups, seven voted 'no' or 'not voting' while only three voted in favor of passage.
- The six Democrats that did not vote on final passage received over $104,000 in combined campaign contributions connected to Accident & health insurance interest groups.
