June 16, 2011 - The Senate voted (41-59) against an amendment (McCain Amdt. 411) on Thursday that would prohibit the use of federal funds to construct ethanol blender pumps or ethanol storage facilities. The measure was opposed by Growth Energy and the National Corn Growers Association.
- Alternate energy production & services, which opposed this amendment, gave 3.4 times as much on average to senators that voted 'NO' ($12,082) as to senators that voted 'YES' ($3,531).
- Wheat, corn, soybeans and cash grain, which opposed this amendment, gave 3.0 times as much on average to senators that voted 'NO' ($5,653) as to senators that voted 'YES' ($1,869).
