July 13, 2011 - The special election to replace retired Rep. Jane Harman took place on Tuesday, July 12, in which Democrat Janice Hahn, a Los Angeles councilwoman, defeated Republican Craig Huey, a small business owner.
According to a MapLight analysis, as of Tuesday, July 12, Hahn had raised just over $1.3 million dollars, with over $873,000 coming from contributions provided by individuals and $438,000 coming from PACs. Huey had raised almost $1.1 million, including over $883,000 in self-financing. The remainder of Huey's contributions are comprised of over $153,000 from individuals and just over $31,000 from PACs.
