Filing Deadline Reveals Numerous Small Out-of-State Donations Opposing Prop. 23

Oct. 22, 2010 - Following yesterday's pre-election deadline for filing campaign finance data for California's ballot measures, small contributions from across the country are beginning to show up in contribution totals opposing Prop. 23. Researcher's note: Within 90 days of an election, ballot measure contributions of $1,000 and above must be reported within 24 hours; smaller amounts only need to be disclosed at the filing deadline.

Another update concerns the totals for Sierra Club in opposition to Prop. 23. The pro-environmental group's figures have been lowered to $835,890, to reflect an adjustment in the latest filing numbers.

Notable recent contributions:

  • Prop. 23 support received $50,000 from ANR Pipeline Company on Wednesday.
  • Prop. 23 opposition received $50,000 from Maryland's D. Keith Campbell, an investment manager, on Thursday.
