Hagel’s Road to the White House Paved by Monied Interests

Former Senator Chuck Hagel, recently nominated for secretary of defense by President Barack Obama, represented Nebraska in the United States Senate from 1997 to 2009. Hagel, a Republican, would enter the Democratic president's incoming cabinet having received two Purple Hearts in the Vietnam War.
