Dec. 7, 2010 -- The Los Angeles Times' Patrick McGreevy reports that California State Senate President Pro-Tem Darrell Steinberg (D-Sacramento) has selected Ed Hernandez (D-East Los Angeles) to replace Elaine Alquist (D-San Jose) as chairman of the Senate Health Committee for the 2011-12 legislative session. Hernandez represents the 24th Senate District and previously represented the 57th Assembly District last session.
According to his Senate campaign website, Dr. Hernandez is an optometrist, as is his wife Diane. Sen. Hernandez also served on the Assembly Health Committee.
