Users simply type in their home address and can immediately view their personalized ballot, supplemented by helpful information such as endorsements, funding sources, candidate biographies, and more. Voters can mark selections and share their choices via social media, or create election widgets to display on their website or blog.

"An informed electorate is essential to a functioning democracy," said Daniel G. Newman, MapLight's Co-Founder and President. "Voter's Edge gives you, the voter, the edge against all the biased, negative advertising. It's the quick, easy way to get the facts before you vote."

Voter's Edge is designed to congregate critical, trustworthy information in one place to help citizens decide how to vote at the polls. Through this tool, publicly-available, nonpartisan information will be delivered more quickly and efficiently to a larger audience than was ever before possible.

The Voter's Edge project was made possible by generous support from the Kaphan Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Rita Allen Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation, and the Tides Foundation Civic Innovation Fund, as well as the generous support of individual donors.

Methodology: MapLight analysis of campaign contributions to the principal campaign committees of federal candidates for the 2014 election cycle, beginning on January 1, 2013. Top contributor figures are based on itemized records, aggregated by employer for individual donors and by affiliate organization for political action committees. Total raised figures are based on candidates summaries compiled by the Federal Election Commission. All numbers are based on latest data made available by the Federal Election Commission as of October 13, 2014.
