Over $1.3 M in Campaign Contributions Connected to Edison International

May 31, 2011 - President Obama announced his nomination of John Bryson, former CEO of Edison International, to serve as commerce secretary. Since Jan 1, 2001, contributions from Edison International and its subsidiaries and employees to current members of Congress have totaled over $1.3 million.

Contributions from Employees and PACs of Edison International and its Subsidiaries (Jan 1, 2001 - Dec 31, 2010):

  • While still a senator, Barack Obama collected $38,984 in contributions to his presidential and Senate campaign committees.
  • Current lawmakers in both the House and Senate have accepted $1,358,028 in campaign contributions. Current senators have received $266,898 of that amount.
  • Members of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, the governing body responsible for holding confirmation hearings for commerce secretary, have collected $53,850 in total campaign contributions.
