Over two dozen Democrats broke from their party and voted against the measure. The 27 Democrats who aided in defeating the measure received $3,374 on average from mining and manufacturing interest groups and only $1,537 on average from interests tied to mining unions.

Dec. 9, 2010 - Based on a Dec. 8 vote in the Senate on a motion to proceed on S 3991, where a no vote would block consideration of final passage, lawmakers voting 'yes' received on average over $8,500 from groups and individuals associated with police and firefighter unions while, 'no' voters received just over $2,000 on average.

Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) will be keeping his seat in the House of Representatives, according to an article by Bloomberg's Peter S. Green. Bishop will begin his fifth term in January, when the House convenes its 112th session.
