Under the Democratic party’s new fundraising policy, detailed by the Washington Post in February, lobbyists cannot participate in DNC events with President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden or their wives. But lobbyists can attend party events with White House staffers, according to a MapLight review of DNC emails.

A MapLight analysis of Political TV Ad Archive data from 23 selected markets has found that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was the subject of at least 4,963 minutes of negative advertisements between Nov. 20 and July 14. Cumulatively, the ads attacking Trump amounted to about 83 hours of air time.

Nine U.S. Senators crossed party lines during Monday’s votes on measures aimed at restricting access to firearms. Together, these Senators have received less than $40,000 from gun rights groups in this election cycle, a MapLight analysis has found. Most of that money has gone to one Republican Senator, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, who is facing a tough reelection fight. Gun rights groups have contributed $29,295 to Ayotte’s campaign, according to the analysis of data from the Center for Responsive Politics.
