House Subcommittee Chairmen Assignments for the 112th Congress

Republican members of the House of Representatives designated to lead committees in the 112th Congress have begun to select which of their fellow lawmakers will serve as subcommittee chairmen. Below is a list of committees that have announced appointments. Due to the shooting in Tucson on Jan. 8, 2011, Congress has postponed official business to honor the victims, and therefore not all committees have had the opportunity to hold organizational meetings to determine subcommittee jurisdiction and seat assignments.
Obama Selects William Daley to be White House Chief of Staff

President Barack Obama has named William Daley as his new chief of staff. Daley was appointed secretary of Commerce by President Bill Clinton, serving from 1997 to 2000 and since his career has spanned industries including aerospace, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and finance.
Manufacturing Lobbyist John Engler will head the Business Roundtable

Peter Schroeder, writing for the Hill, reports that on January 15 of next year John Engler, CEO of influential lobbying group the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), will become the new president of the Business Roundtable, an even more influential lobbying group.
